Makayla's Flowers

It was so nice today that Makayla and I went to Tom's Garden Center after swimming. I let her pick out some flowers to put in her very own pot. So when we got home she put on her gloves, her boots, got her tools and we went to work. She did such a good job! She has definitely watched Michael and I in the yard cause she knew exactly what to do even without instruction. She is so cute!

Our Little Fishy!

Look at her go!! Makayla is doing so well with swimming. She is so much more comfortable going under water and continues to do better floating on her back. We are taking a two week break and then she will start a new class. We will do a lot more independent swimming in this next class so I hope she does as well as she has in our last class. Here are some new pictures of her. She is underwater!!

Getting started!

A couple weeks ago, Makayla helped her daddy build a shelving unit for the baby's room.

This weekend, Makayla helped me as I started getting the baby room ready. We started with putting the crib together and then we put the first coat of paint on all the walls. She helped with hanging some clothes in the closet.
We went shopping one evening and she picked out an outfit for the baby. She grabed it and said, "This one would be good for the baby!" so of course I had to buy it. :o)
I have some more painting to do and some shelves to hang etc., but at least I have a start on it. Michael is unavailable to help for the next few weeks so I will just do one project at a time. He still has to do the final sanding of the cubbyhole/bookshelf that he and Makayla made and then we need to put a finish on it. He put a closet organizer up for me already though which has been awesome.

1 down and 11 to go. . .

Well when I said that Michael being in accademy would go by fast I was mistaken. Last week felt like an eternity! Of course, Makayla had a cold and wasn't feeling well and some how managed to only take one nap all week!!! I am sure things will get better.
For Michael, the week went by really fast. He gets to "work" at about 6:15 to do Rig Checks, EMS Checks etc. and then accademy starts at 7:00am. His day is combined with class room time, fire training and PT (Physical Training). They finish up between 5-6pm and then Michael heads over to my parents house (about a mile from the training facility) and eats dinner, and then hits the books to prepare for the next day's test.
Makayla and I have been staying at home for most of the week. We have swimming on Tuesday and Thursday mornings so it makes it hard to go up to Portland for more than a day and a half or so. It will probably be routine that we head up after swimming on Tuesday's and spend Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with Michael. He doesn't have much time for us but at least we get to see him. We hang out with Nana and Papa Dave while we are there when Michael is studying.

It was really nice to have Michael home for the weekend. He had a lot of work to do to prepare for the next week but just his presence was refreshing. He "Renewed my Strength" in dealing with Makayla's fits and strong-will.

Michael practiced his knots on Saturday and Makayla had a blast getting all tied up.
